Transgender Literature Festival Celebrates Talent and Inclusivity in Madurai

Madurai hosted the fourth Transgender Literature Festival on Sunday, an event organized by the Transgender Resource Centre. Esteemed writers Senthil Nagaiyasamy, M Manimaran, and Deepa Nagarani were among the participants, alongside Maharishi Vidhya Mandir Headmistress Hema and Suvadugal Founder Bhagyaraj.

The festival featured the distribution of awards for the Su Samuthiram memorial short story competition, with Sivagama Sundari Nagamani, Anand Ravi, and Pattukottai Raja securing the top three positions. Additionally, 26 students received internship certificates from the resource centre.

A highlight of the event was the launch of Mahalakshmi Raghavan's book, Transgender Demystified: 109 FAQs for Understanding. The festival also included performances by members of the trans community, an art exhibition, and a sale to support the community further.
